Spectatorism at it's finest!

There's no games for either platform and there's already a winner? Who even buys a console when there's no games?

the consoles themselves are pure sequels, of course they will suffer from it.

SteamOS is the next step, true Next-gen gaming.

Ps4 and Xbone are sequels of the same old segregated locked-in-to-the-same-hardware -for-years consoles of the past where you have to buy every console just to be able to play with your buddies.

I own the same game for 2 platforms just to be able to play with all my friends, it's retarded.

You can install SteamOS on that and have a dedicated gaming machine in your living room :) just get a controller

This is not a replacement for your Desktop. It's supposed to be a lightweight Operating system that boots right into Steam in big screen mode for people looking to buying/building a dedicated gaming machine for the living room.

There already is a linux native Steam client.

The SteamOS is made for SteamBox-type machines. That is machines that are dedicated for gaming in your living room, whether you buy an official SteamBox or build your own machine. It is not a replacement of your desktop, more like a replacement for your old xbox or playstation.

Also, the bigger picture (no pun) here is that the gaming community is segregated into either the PlayStation camp or the Xbox camp. You can own the same game on two different platforms, and because of that you can't play with each other, it's quite retarded.

Steam would put every gamer on the same platform though the underlying hardware would differ. PC, Mac or SteamBox wouldn't matter anymore.

Also, since it's a PC and Linux you would have a...

Through streaming you can play all games on Steam, as long as you have a Windows/Mac machine with Steam and the game you want to play.

This is primarily for backwards compatibility of games that where developed for Windows and OSX. Having the developers re-write their games for Linux wouldn't work. It's quite a beautiful solution actually.

For new games, Valve is talking to everyone in the business, trying to convinced them to make a native Linux ver...

Looks likes shit, hope they fix it

I really hope StemBox can finnish of consoles for good. Gamers get segregated into different camps and fight over these shit consoles. We all know PC gaming is the best!

Wow, nice to play at "highest settings 2013" in 2 years lol. Those consoles are nice for about a year or two then they get really left behind. Lets hope the SteamBox can change that!!
