I don't know that I'd qualify gamestop management "People who work in the industry". They're getting systems early, friend of mine already has a PS4. She's not been banned or sued.
If there was a huge rash of a single retailer selling these things, or an employee get's caught selling one early sure. But They do send them out ahead of launch to some people. Not to mention the people that'll get it early from Amazon or wherever.
Always wait a year to buy new systems, till they get the kinks worked out. Is this one of them? Who knows, but always hold out.
I hate to be "That guy" But one store dose not mean it's every store. By a large margin I'm sure, but I know stores with more X1 systems the PS4.
They tend to hit big box before smaller stores like Gamestop. Although it's not uncommon to have them a week or so in advance.
Yet another reason to buy a PC... Gotta love the 2 terabytes of space... I've got enough porn to last, LITERALLY, a day... it's sweet.

They had plenty of time to justify it, they just chose not to and puttered around, letting their PR people dance on brownies or whatever instead of talking about the product.

More then likely I'd say. Although if it were to happen, I'd like them to continue making controllers at the very least, I vastly prefer their stick layout to Sonys. Even if it meant I could only use them on PC, I'd be game for that.
Msoft is essentially one huge slush fund. Xbox is just one small portion of the company, I highly doubt that any of that is being taken seriously... Or maybe it is, fuck if I know.
As much as I dislike square, they gave Eidos some good playroom for their stuff. That being said, you can't expect them to rake in enough money to make up for the loss of funds that a FF Game being pushed back for years creates.
I worked gamestop for 6 years, all of those display models break. PS2, Xbox, GameCube, PS3, XB360, Wii, And Wii U, they all fuckin break. There on for 12 hours straight, 7 days a week (Longer if nobody turns them off) in a poorly vented area, they will break no matter what.
