All MGS games are mind blowing one way or the other. Even more so in the case of MGS4.
It is always interesting to see the inspiration behind the creative genius of the writers.
excelent, just excelent !
Raiden was an excelent character and very relevant for the overal theme of the MGS story.
simply...MGS4
...the 5 hours they are mentioning also contain the non-voiced text conversations, and there's TONS of them. Actual full motion cutscenes are around the 2 and a half hours mark.
As a fan from, i think, back in 02 or 03, i found MGS4 to be the overall pinnacle of the series.
MGS3 was my previous favourite, an exceptionally well made game and story with, like Andi agrees, a very emotional plot/epilogue and serving as a powerful catalyst for future events, and i absolutely >>love<< each of the games, but 4 was simply the culmination of all i loved about the series, with its powerful narrative and intricate gameplay.
Pretty strange comment from this guy's part.
He basically says that the only storytelling mediums are Hollywood motion pictures and pixar animations, while generally eastern cinematography and particulary japan anime (MGS series, FF series) are not.
I'm sorry, but just like many already stated, i felt more attached and touched by MGS4's story and characters that the vast majority of american movies. It is an anime story of the highest standards and the production values ...
...MGS series is pretty unique in the gaming and overall storytelling medium. Nothing is quite like it and it's cinematic & storytelling prowess can not really be compared to anything else.
From the clips released so far it is obvious that the cinematography in Uncharted 2 is not on the same level with MGS4's. The animations and coregraphy are not either. Now as far as the narrative i'm 100% certain U2 will provide a well written well acted story that will entertain us more...
MGS3 and MGS4 are two games/stories that had me holding back my tears.
MGS4 had more genuinely emotional moments than any movie i've seen and not only dramatic, but deeply nostalgic, amazingly spirit soaring and incredibly profound as well. Truly an emotional rollercoaster for those that got invested into the story.
MGS4's ending is no.1 for me, with MGS3's a close second.
These games basically beat any movie i've seen too.
Portable OPS was great mainly because Kojima wrote the story himself (and partially the script). In Rising, at least as far as we know, he will not be involved in any artistic manner.
"Focus on the friendship and divide between Big Boss and Zero in this game. Since it occurs after Big Boss has left the Patriots and been cloned"
This is no doubt what the game will be about. Like it says in the trailer, it is the "missing link" in the overall story. As an epilogue, MGS4 pushed the story very forward and Peace Walker will shed more light on the early years of Zero's Patriots.
Rising will more than likely fill some of the gaps as well,...
Tell me about it man. I was indeed expecting dramatic things to happen in MGS4, but the raw emotions still took me by surprise, like a bullet straight through my heart, and not only at the end, but in quite a few other instances throughout the game ( the end of Act 4 Naomi scene was among the most poignant i've ever seen ).
There are certainly a few video games that gave me misty eyes to the point of bursting into tears, like MGS3 and MGS4 in particular.
I mean, one must really be of stone not to feel "something" at the end of MGS3 when you find out about the Boss's mission or [Oh My God] at the end of MGS4 when a certain conversation between a little girl, Sunny, and our beloved Otacon takes place. It felt like 10 years of subdued emotions coming out all at once.
It also happened to me ...
...usually means around 8. But i guess that's still better than...let's say 5.
I remember the Uncharted devs saying something similar back in 07. 12 hours, and the game was 8 - 9 max.
Uncharted had 70 minutes of cutscenes and now 2 will have 90. Great news for me as i enjoyed every second of Uncharted's cutscenes !
Omg, this topic is hilarious :)
Keep the comments and the pics coming guys ^_^
@ Rowsdower - sadly, that means exactly nothing. As long as he is not actually creating the story and directing the cinematics and the development process, beeing invoved "deeper" than a 'producer' means virtually "zero" from a creative standpoint.
Having played the game 6 times now, MGS4 has the best story and cinematic presentation in the series with moments of pure genius, like nothing i have ever seen before. The way Kojima concluded the saga was unbelievable, perfect and inspiring in every way.
Now, if Kojima is not "actively" involved in the creative development of Rising, that is a BIG problem for me. Worst case scenario, i'm hoping at least Murata (though let's be honest here, he's no 'Kojima') will be fully inv...
The incredibly poignant scene with Otacon and Sunny pondering over Old Snake's whereabouts on the sunlit airfield and the profound last words of the repenting Big Boss take the cake for me.
