I like to call this the Skyrim effect: people will think it’s the best thing since sliced bread for a couple of years until they start to recognise the oh so many flaws the game has. In both cases the ‘freedom’ aspect seemed to seal the deal for many, although it’s not really revolutionary anymore.
Still a good game though.
