Well there are two big reasons, one for each system , to buy digital
Ps4. Remote play. Huge reason.
Xbone. Snap play switching games
So at least even if you prefer physical to own (I do) there are reasons to have some digitally downloaded to each system depending on what you want to do.

Warframe, duo, NBA, madden, battlefield, many others, even games you didn't mention are able to be played by other systems. How many "unique" to only the PS4 games are there really? Knack and KZ.
He is doing right by his base fans for now. Play to the consoles strengths. Dig a bit at your competition. I don't fully agree with the title and it making gameplay better... Because at the heart of gaming graphics, resolution, no jaggies, motion control, voice control are all second fiddle to the main gameplay/fun factor.
Edit... And to make sure I am more on topic, that difference in scoping a person from a far to that smallest degree of resolution would have man...
Not wait a year or two to get enjoyment...just to see if the "hype" is all what it seems. That's it. I'll enjoy my system, but as the question states.... Does it live up to the hype?
To truly get the full exp. on both new consoles, you need Internet. This is about living up to the hype. Even many launch titles that are free (warframe that I am looking forward to) require Internet. To get the most out of my ps4 I would say an Internet connection is required.
Hmm... Live up to your hype? No matter what console you prefer and are "hyped" about both could disappoint. Or both could surpass expectations. I agree with your first sentence completely. About two years down the line we will know more about the PS4 and if it did live up to the hype!
Killzone and ryse are my two "first purchases" for their systems. That being said, this kinda falls in line to what I thought/think the launch titles scores will be. Now that more people are playing killzone, the scores are dropping from those 9-8 range into 6-7 (just scroll down on this page right here!). I'll be playing it this evening after a manager of a store somehow got his hands on a ps4.

Sony can reach that number, I will help that by buying a console, or two if the children prefer it over the one.
Sadly I only look to Sony for products in their gaming division these days, TV's , cameras and audio equipment of any kind I have started looking elsewhere over the last 10 years. But the success of sony as a whole is just like this article says.

I disagree with you IDBA, sadly I know many people who buy less then 5 games a year, of those people it really doesn't matter too much how the game looks. This gen, many (I live in the USA) bought the 360 version just because many friends had a 360. They wouldn't care one bit how it looks compared to the other system.

From a man who is no doubt getting both systems on launch day, this is by no means reason to cancel my preorder. My two daughters, oldest daughters (19 and 15) were raised as much as a gaming parent could raise their children to love gaming. This news was a bit disapointing for my 15yo. They are not fan girls, but the 15yo wants the xbone now more then the Ps4... While the 19yo is sticking by her PS4 guns.

How is it that people aren't upset that no DLNA support or the ability to play mp3s is GONE from the PS4? I don't even understand how that is acceptable. If its like that on the xbone that is unacceptable also..... No media play like that is just a big disappointment. This can't even be spun to be a good thing.
One thing that should hit people from both sides about this game... It's 900p... But nearly all reviewers are saying IT IS THE BEST LOOKING next gen game, it's a graphical masterpiece, or one even went as far to say better then any ps4 game. Sure it might not ever be the best game to play, have the best story, or even sell well (remains to be seen).
