I remember them actually having a lot of lore and back story inside the actual manuals. Man, that was probably the best part about getting a new game for me as a kid. I'd open the box up and read up everything on the way home

Wow, i remember how absurdly huge those old video game boxes were

I remember this getting a lot of flak when it was first announced, but it's good to see that overall it's been met with very positive results.

I've always looked at remastered versions of games different than reviewing actual new IP's. For remasters you look at how well the updated graphics look, sound feel, how everything is adapted. It's one of the rare occasions where your review is heavily influenced by your previous experience with the series.

As a whole, MCC kept what was fun about the original Halo Series intact, and smoothed it over by added better framerates, texturing, audio, and the inclusio...

I see where you're coming from but I wouldn't blame this entirely on TurtleRock. They had no way of knowing the update was going to cause so much trouble. There are still people who have their system's essentially bricked from the update. If anything I would say this is on Sony's hand for dropping the ball with yet another update.

Always awesome to see some fun games to buy for cheap

There should be some ethical code applies to game journalists. At the moment it's getting harder and harder to differentiate what's news and what's a cleverly disguised advertising and opinion

I'm really glad that a lot of these japanese titles are getting more focus in western markets.

It's interesting to see the mentality between different indie studios. On the one hand you have the people who are starting from the bottom because no big publishers want to invest in them, so they have no choice BUT to go indie in the hopes that their project will get enough traction to be noticed.

Then on the other hand you have big AAA studios break off and forming their own "indie" studios because they've made enough money and gained enough traction wi...

Not necessarily. Production values back then were a lot lower than they are now, and a lot of games weren't as great as we remember. Goldeneye for me was more fun because of the multiplayer, but I honestly cant remember much in terms of the story. If you ask me to name fun games based on movies, that'd probably me one of the last ones to come to mind.

seriously, hands down one of the best movie inspired games. It was genuinely fun.

I understand where you're coming from, but at the same time it's becoming an alternative model for funding that's being used by independent developers. A lot of these games coming out don't have the funds so readily available, so they go about it any way they can.

It's not always a bad thing because there have been some genuinely awesome games that we otherwise wouldn't have had a chance to see. But it's a double edge sword and people need to do t...

I don't think you read the same article? It wasn't whining about early accesss but rather making the point that it's a calculated risk people take, and they need to be aware of it. It gave two examples where the risk didn't pay off, one where development was dropped and the other where enough of the community spoke against it that the project was out on hiatus.

Either way I do agree, early access isn't a bad thing because it does gives access to games w...

That brings up an interesting question however. Do you think it was disrespectful to Ed Boon when that poster was leaked? Boon had been hinting at it for a few days on his twitter, and he was slowly building up excitement for it. I imagine it was something he was really proud of and was waiting for everyone's reaction when he made the official announcement. But then bam, someone else decides to show an image of the postes. It's almost like having the rug swept up from under you after ...

very good point. It reminds of this years E3 when a lot of the trailers and lineup were leaked a few days before. It took away a lot of the excitement of the actual presentation.

It's always interesting to see people talk about their experiences in game dev, especially for the first time

There's nothing wrong with being critical and pointing out flaws, but that is of course assuming it leads to civil debate and exchange of ideas. Too often do we have a vocal minority that spew nothing but vitriol and quickly drag others down with them.

BlazBlue was one of those fighting games that had genuinely interesting characters that had me curious about their backstory and the world they lived in. Kind of glad they came out with a game to explore that.
