The issues with the PS4 are not nearly as bad as the Xbox 360's and The Xbox 360 didn't sell anywhere near a million units in 24 hours or even in it's first week.
There were tons of Xbox 360's that did not work on launch day. Mine worked for for about six month's before failing but I could roast hot dogs and marsh mellows off the back of the console, although I did save money on my heating bill. Maybe I'm wrong, but why would the cable companies subsidized a console that is not needed to watch cable.
It's doesn't do cable without hooking a cable box to it. Basically the Xbox One is just a pass thru box for the cable box (satellite box) you still have two devices that have to be turned on. What does the Xbox One provide for cable viewing that a cable box doesn't already do. It doesn't really do anything to enhance cable or satellite viewing. So why...

The huge majority are not having problems, me being one of them. Most of the people buying a console on release day are die hard gamers, and most should know the in's and out's of a console launch, there has never been a perfect console launch, I know cause I have been through many of them. Guess what we have gotten through all of them pretty well even the Xbox 360's Huge launch problems.
The internet and the media by nature blows most everything out of proportion...

Some people never think before they speak, 1 million is launch Day number as in one day of sales as in the 15th of November with nearly a month and a half before Christmas as in One continent. The PS4 will probably sell 3 Million this holiday when it launches in Europe that is if they have manufactured enough to do so, which they probably have.

I build PC"s and I have gotten my fair share of bad PC parts and I have fixed my fare share of store bought PC's. Failure rate on PC's is pretty darn high.
If you find one buy it because it really is a great console. You can't keep a good console down.
Congrat's Sony and all those involved in it's very successful launch, albeit with a few mishaps.

I'm a PC gamer too but the games on PS4 look pretty darn amazing, draw distance amazing, frame rate amazing, lighting and shadows amazing, amazing high rez textures, The anti aliasing in Killzone is the best I've seen. Looking as good as what the best PC's can do.

The majority of people aren't having a problem with the update, could be a problem with your TV or it's just an HDMI problem, it can be pretty finicky when hand shaking with devices.

Both Killzone and Knack have gotten good scores from mainstream media Like Game Trailers, Destructoid, Game Informer and not to mention many users.

Have you tried resetting your modem and router, probably have, but if you haven't done that, it might help.
