ND said they use pre-rendered cutscenes so they can add special effects in it and have. But it's still using the actual 3D models from the game. It's not CGI.

Actually, it was noted to be the first FF game with a proper storyline. FF1-3's stories weren't exactly amazing.

3DS remake of FFVI would be uber awesome.
Yeah they should at least port the DS version. It's in 3D with voiced cutscenes and gameplay is actually more difficult.
IGN also think the DS version of FF4 is the best version.
Although, I'll be looking forward to this remake of FF4: The After Years. I haven't played that.
FFIX doesn't need a remake. It's perfect how it is.
FFVI and FFVII need remakes though.
