PSN games that are from other companies are really not up to Sony, but Sony could at least put out more of their first party games to set a example for others to follow. They can have a monopoly of the market before others hit too.
But i think the problem is back in the Sony Playstation 1 days. Sony do NOT own alot of the IPs for the games and alot of the games are not developed by Sony themselves. That's why there is a drought of game.

I expect MGS2 to move 1-2 million units world wide
R2 if score is favorable may move some, but R1 fan base is PS3, so the move will not be big for R2, it will be a multi million seller though. IT will also drive R1 sales, because ppl will want to know the story.
You already have R2, i don't think they want to cannablize each other's FPS sales. It makes strategic sense. Even if the game is already done, they would have held it back for a more strategic release I think. Save time to buff up the blemish and start the next project at the same time.
