My guess is it is because of this

I disagree with what you posted. Blu-ray is not a niche product. The facts don't seem to back that statement up.
According to Digital Entertainment Group (DEG)
Year-end for '08 Blu-ray players installed base was 10.7 million, 3 million players sold in the 4th quater alone.
Standalone players sales in the format's first two years:
Blu-ray 2.5 million vs. DVD 1.2 million
U.S Blu-ray market
'08: $750 million '07: $270 million

I believe the ps3 will hit it before the Wii, if it gets a that $100 price drop. A $300 ps3 compared to $250 Wii. I would think more people would spend that extra $50 and get the ps3.
The 360 has around a 8 million console lead on the ps3, but yet the ps3 can come within a couple hundred thousands units. You would think that with that many more 360's out there compared to the ps3, the sales would be more one sided.
Bioshock had the "Only on Xbox 360 and Windows" logo, when it first was released. My buddy picked up Eternal Sonata was it was released, and I thought that I saw that "Only on Xbox 360" logo on it, but it must of been a different game that I'm thinking of.
Bioshock and Eternal Sonata both had the "Only on Xbox 360" logo, but they both are out for the ps3 as well. Those logos mean nothing in this generation of gaming. The only way it is 100% exclusive is if the game is owned by Sony or Microsoft, anything else is not 100%.
Mgo is on Konami's servers, not the psn, it wouldn't matter if you were to pay for the psn, mgo would still be slow. Which option do you download from/for mgo, the http option is way faster than the p2p option.
My money is on the announcement of Metal Gear Solid 4: Subsistence.
Metal Gear Solid series, Suikoden series. If Resident Evil 5 deliverers like 4 did. The Resident Evil series will also become an automatic buy.
They are not really a game series, but anything made by Insomniac and Level-5 are also automatic buys as well.
Final Fantasy will never come to xbox, Bioshock will never come to ps3. Everyone thought that those two games would not jump ship, but they both did. If it one thing this generation has shown us, it is to expect the unexpected.
While the pro is a hundred dollars less, and the elite is the same price as a ps3. Which SKU is Microsoft adverting? It is only adverting the $200 arcade to the consumers, that $200 arcade is all they know about.
They are still sending out new coupons as older coupons are not being redeem within the 90 day limit, there is a waiting list, but you can still get the coupons.
The government is offering two discount coupons for digital converter boxes, so you can keep your old sd tv and not have to get cable.
Let them work on NEW games, they need to quite doing all these remakes or ports of the same games over and over and over again.
Who will be playing this game over Halo: ODST, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, or Bioshock 2?
I don't think it is possible for Microsoft and Sony to work together on making a console. They both have way different views on gaming. I also don't see how they would split it with each holding equal shares and influence, they both seem to want total control over what they do.
I don't really see any SMT game coming out only for the 360, since SMT is big in Japan, I don't think that the 360 has a big enough user base in Japan to make that happen. I can see it coming out for both the ps3 and 360. But only time will tell what will happen.
The 360 is not kicking ass. The wii is killing it. The ps3 while being $100-$200 more than the 360 is right with the 360. That 8 million unit lead the 360 has over the ps3 is not really that much of a lead, considering the price difference between the two, and also the 360 had a year headstart.
"Neither of those games sold a million copies which is said to be the breakeven point for most HD games"
Really? I didn't know that most HD games had a $50-60 million budget. Alot of games don't need to sell a million to breakeven.
