And you can't play on official COD/CS-servers either with a pirated copy. I'm sure there will be ways of playing Starcraft 2 illegaly, though not via the official matchmaking-system, of course.

16 years... wow, that's a very long time. It's as old as PCG UK, even. Can't say I was an active reader of the magazine, but I can't say that I'm thrilled about the shutdown either.
Well, I doubt they've created the cover art themselves. The most likely answer is that they've gotten it from Ubisoft, which thereby confirms that the game is real.
