The game is currently being polished, bugtested, etc. The game was finished probably earlier this year. When that's done it'll enter the extremely long marketing and PR phase.
Aliens: CM is a different story. In the demo, the game was shown to be a cinematic experience. In reality, it came out to be a generic run-of-the-mill bad FPS. People didn't know about this until the release date.
It's in the game because people did it 300 years ago. It's not glorifying whaling, it's simply reflecting the world in that time. It's like saying AC1 was anti-Christian because you fought them.

Activision is a really entitled company. They act like every Nintendo fan wants and has to buy the game, because it's BLACK OPS ffs. They think that the money is already theirs, just under a lock, with no consideration for the opinion of the customer. I don't realize why they don't move on from Nintendo as they are obvious...
This is because of:
Full motion videos (What PersonMan said)
3D cutscenes (These are about half the size of the game)
Subtitles in all languages
Audio in all languages
TBH Sony should allow you to pick what you want. If you don't have a 3D TV and/or only want a certain language, you should be able to tick the boxes and only download what you're going to use.
What if the big thing would be that they would not even announce the PS4, just a firmware update for PS3 that is Gaikai-enabled. All future games would be streamed. Knowing $ony, ofc this will not happen. Just a cool idea :D
People... the PS4 will have a Blu Ray drive anyway. What if they implement a system that checks the PS3 disc and then streams you that game? That way you could use your old discs. You don't need PS3 hardware for checking the contents of a Blu-Ray disc. They would just need to implement the same way that the PS3 discerns a real game from a burned BD.
