Infamous is definitely the most suitable to compare with.
It's quite funny cause the beta is what made the game popular at first and they were reconsidering putting it on plus (they wanted to put it on plus so it can get more popular) but Sony really wanted it on plus and offered them more and told them they would promote them more and stuff.. and they went for it. I still remember the comments when PS+ Games were revealed in the youtube video... Lots of people were saying it was bad but look how that turned out.
