Destructoid's article was nothing but a YouTube vid talking more rumors. We actually went out on a limb and confirmed many of the things that Kotaku and 1Up confirmed today.

When AC2 was first announced I was like, big deal. I mean the way they designed the time element into the story I felt was very convenient for sequels and honestly detracts slightly from the value of the story.

They needed more missions. They could have just switched a few things up to at least dress up the missions in a different "wrapper" so to speak.
I believe they intend on having Wii and PSP for AC II.
