This didn't fix my issue. Keeps freezing at the opening cutscene.
I also upgraded my hdd to a 100gb. The 60 and 20 GB are the exact same besides the wifi and card slots and the trim.
This isn't the primary screw up of GTA IV for PS3. It's when the game freezes during the game play or cut scenes. The game is screwed on my 20gb console and signing on or off doesn't help. I've also done the 12 step plan from Take 2 and it's still a no go.

This already has been debunked several others including myself. I've tried so many things. This game just needs a patch to fix this issue and then we can rejoice!

GTAIV is compromised as of the moment. I recently spoke to Take 2 interactive and told me that nothing at moment is planned to ship out a patch through Playstation Network Or Live. I guess we must be all patient!
for the short time I was able to play the game on the PSN however, my game froze within seconds and has constantly done so. I really hope that Rockstar has a chance or Sony to bring us a patch or Firmware update to bring stability back.

This game in everyway is inferior to the pc and xbox360. I personally own a ps3 and not purchasing this game. I hope people boycott halflife orangebox and gabe newell's product since it's not up to playstation standards. I've also heard that there not using any of the SPU's of the Cell. Buy Uncharted or UT3. This is a terrible mess. Boycott!
Mark Rein is awesome. I like how he states his opinion about how the ps3 is a bluray player and consumer would eventually buy games for it when seeing a new game advertisement. Gabe Newell is fat because he's lazy. Saying that the ps3 is too hard to code and program, that's just a silly excuse. That's why you are paid to do work to make games right? (key word: work!) Naughty Dog, Infinity ward, Bethesda, and Insomniac are just examples of great games and finding out how to use the ps3.

When I was looking to see all the bells and whistles of firmware 2.0 I found that the internet browser isn't updated or perhaps minor tweaks. I believe the latest flash is 9. When I go to a site that requires that software, it still tells me to upgrade.
Does anyone know yet how to make your own custom icons for the XMB?
Is this a joke? My game still freezes both on and offline with the patch installed. I can't believe Rockstar is letting this fly to the numerous PS3 owners with the same problem. Go to the playstation.com forums and look it up. This is all mess.
