but all one has to do is select local in the multiplayer option and they will have access to all weapons, face paints, perks etc.

Back in the day, most games had a co-op element. Co-op games were the only ones I owned considering I had three brothers. We had so much freaking fun.
Bring back co-op play whether it be online or offline. And not just the run of the mill co-op (bunch of dudes shooting randomly trying to kill every enemy just to move up to the next objective).
