Honestly, this is the one thing that's making me consider now purchasing Lego Dimensions. It sounds like a great game, but initially expensive, plus each expansion is very pricy. From reading reviews of it, it sounds like the game lets you know here and there when you're missing people to go different ways, too.
Knowing that I can still buy the main game, buy the characters I want, and not feel like I still got only a half a game for the price of three makes me feel...
It's startling to see so much of a loss, but the market does fluctuate. And honestly, we all know that right now Nintendo doesn't look appealing to your average investor - they've got a struggling lineup going into the holiday season, and they have little to talk about in regards to the future. Nintendo is hiding almost every future title and future interest, along with the details of the NX. They told us in June that they would only be sharing games intended to come out this y...
I think that people are being a little short-sighted when they argue against censorship like this, saying "If you think of sex when you see a thirteen-year-old in a swimming suit, then you're the one with the problem."
Completely forgetting that the character's design was made with the intention of causing a sexual attention or, at the very least, emulating a style of dress that kids wear to cause sexual attraction.
If you can look at this ...
In this day? I think that SE understands that if they just sub it, it won't review as well, and therefore won't sell as well. And I get that if they make this game for a western audience, they want to create a game that meets their standards - none of this "slap the dialogue from 2000 into a 2015 game" thing.
Dragon Quest never reached anywhere near the same level of popularity here. Honestly, it's a small portion of the gaming population who are inte...
The 'last gen' console generally still produces games through the first phase of the new console, as it takes a while for the audience to switch from last-gen to next-gen. What I think that luckytrouble is getting at is that there really aren't any heavy hitters in there - either they have a smaller audience (Ace Attorney, X Zone, Bravely 2, even Fire Emblem) or they're just continuation of a series. A lot of the "Needs Localization" you've listed have had no i...
Ah, I'm sorry - you're correct. In fact, they just crested 12M recently, if my source is accurate.
Still, that does put them in the Dreamcast / Game Gear range. Not a very comfortable area to be in.
Look, I actually do like the Vita. It's a cool little system, has a lot of power, and has a lot of really great games on it. It doesn't fail because of anything *wrong* with the system. It fails because of who it's sold to.
Number of times the word "Vita" was mentioned: 15
Number of times the word "DS" was mentioned: 3
I'm sorry, guys. The Vita really was an awesome system, and Sony had a ton of great games in their run. But the discontinuation of the Vita doesn't mean that portable systems are dead. The Vita only sold about four million consoles in its lifetime. The 3DS, in comparison, has sold 53 million.
What does that mean, in compari...
Amazing! Now, for just a cool $30, the people who spend the most on Amiibo have a place to store six of them.
Hm, it’s interesting. While I’ve never gone and bought a game because it had great voice acting (and honestly, my favorite games have either minimal or no voice acting), it’s undeniable that an excellent performance will positively affect how a game is rated, which will result in greater sales. So I can agree to that, as long as their demands aren’t extravagant. Putting limits on things that will either be rough on an actor’s voice or body also makes sense. So offhand, I don’t see anythin...
@Knushwood Butt
Virtual Boy, being a home console and not a portable system, was Nintendo's worst selling console. And -that- was a flop. But even if you don't count that one, being the worst selling console of a company that has successfully been making consoles for the past 30 years doesn't necessarily make it a flop. A flop means that it's completely unsuccessful; a total failure. Wii U is doing a little worse than the GameCube, which held its own agai...
I know that this was just a small part of the article, but I’m a bit tired with the attitude against how Nintendo handles censorship and their online presence… especially for stating that Nintendo doesn’t take risks and are just losing the adult market because of their measures to make it a family friendly experience.
Honestly, I love Nintendo for this. There’s a certain demographic that thinks that vulgarity, crude humor, rude language and the like either make someone matur...
Mm... this post gets on my nerves for two reasons - the obvious lack of proofreading (the pad it's self? Lastly one of the finally problems?) and that it reads like an article that could have been published about two years ago. If not for the little bit about "waiting for the NX" at the bottom, I would have sworn it would be.
The Wii U, a flop? No, I don't think so anymore. I think that with Smash, Mario Kart, Splatoon, Amiibo, and a ton of special offer...
I guess, then, that makes me a punk rocker? I don't know. I don't like the assumption that every single "real" gamer is someone whose main source of enjoyment stems from putting bullets in the chest of virtual people. Personally, I hate it, and I veer away from games which include the same realistic violence that makes up some of the more horrific news we see on TV today. Granted, within the last eight to ten years that has been pretty tough outside of Nintendo... and it...
While I definitely agree about the problems with Pokémon multiplayer, specifically in regards to the hyper-obsessive “gaming the system” that is required to do well in playing multiplayer, I disagree that the solution is to add more randomness and more ways in which each individual Pokémon is different from the other. All that will result in is the same people being even more obsessive about it and finding new ways to game this brand new mechanic, either by spending even more time t...
Mmm... OK, yeah, I get that everything hasn't been proceeding smoothly, and that there has been a bit of bait-and-switch. I get that there hasn't been 100% transparency with each of the kickstarters. But some of these arguments are just development hurdles and normal delays. Stuff that's common for a lot of games.
My main beef with this argument, and for most other people who have a problem with the M#9, is that there's an overwhelming sense of entitlement...
When it all comes down to it, the prevalence of this product will ultimately depend on how much someone is willing to compromise their own personal sense or morality in order to get a cool pretty shiny on their video game. We always hope that people will stand by their own moral standards... but as the article pretty much blatantly stated, if someone wants this badly enough, they can come up with plenty of excuses that make the concept of stealing seem justifiable or, at the least, understa...
There's a miniature sixth-grade English teacher weeping inside my brain every time I try to read this. Really, this article got enough approval to get out of 'Pending'? This is just awful. Please, capitalization is not something used to emphasize or de-emphasize words; it is something used for the first word of a sentence, or a title or proper noun. Every single sentence has almost as many grammatical mistakes as it has words.
I am so glad that I learned how S...
Sorry, I just don't believe that all these game companies are making decisions to make their games -less- profitable. I mean, they're kind of focused on making money. You sure you know better than several different marketing groups of several different companies with years of experience and degrees and stuff?
I think you're just looking at one small portion of the market - the one that you're in. And honestly, I don't know anyone outside of that demogra...
But if that was the case, then explain the difference between the Galaxy games and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which sold more copies than both Galaxies combined?? G1 came out when the Wii was still flying off the shelves with every shipment, and I believe that G2 came out somewhat close to when NSMBWii came out.
I think that Yoshi's Island didn't sell the same because they didn't market it like a mainstream Mario game. I remember seeing an add display at a Toys ...
Not quite; you're forgetting Snake Eater for 3DS.
