That is the console business strategy. Sell the console at a loss and make the money back on the games. To use your own example on cell phones, The cell phone is worth $700 (there is a LOT of high end tech in a phone including a screen and it is a mobile device to boot) but the carriers sell it at the $200-$300 mark with the same business strategy. Sell the phone at a loss and make it back on the service. How much would a console cost when launched if it di...
that was clearly an attempt to copy the I am Canadian ad format and nowhere near as good either (if you aren't Canadian you probably won't understand)
At 2:12 he flies off the track and slams into the wall and ACCELERATES while on the grass AND riding the wall and doesn't even loose a position!
At 2:33 he flies off the track and slams into a wall then slams into another wall and he actually GAINS on the other car!!
The Real Driving Simulator indeed.
I'm sure 'twitchplay' a site that didn't exist before September of this year with a whopping 17 articles ever published on it's site has the inside scoop on this.
Alright, so one by one...
1. If you bought a launch console, got an rrod after owning it for a year but before MS extended the warranty (a 5 month period) you may have bought a new 360 for $400 OR you more likely paid to have it fixed for $120. Even if you bought a new one, you most likely a) sold the rrod 360 to someone who was willing to pay to have it fixed or b)sent it in to get it fixed a little later when the warranty was extended then sold it and in both cases these would be l...
I could ask you the same question. He said early 360 owners have bought more than 1 additional 360 because of RROD. Please say you aren't dumb enough to say that because someone owns a 360 they don't know how to use a warranty?
@1.5
"360 owners have bought more than 1 additional 360s due to RROD. (A fact that all 360 fanboys always seem to forget"
Fact? Wouldn't a fact be something like 'a repair under the warranty program isn't a sale'? Please say you aren't dumb enough to think warranty repairs are sales?
They all have an interest in making more money. pachter works for himself and investors trying to make money. He suggests $100 a month and sees what everybody says. Everyone gets pissed so maybe he tries a softer 'two tier' $60/$100. Still people are upset but not as upset as before. Next it could be $60/$75, less people upset then, after everybody has been softened by his ridiculous predictions, MS can announce a two tier $50/$70 and people are actually relieved that the basic services ...
Anyone know how much the ps2 sold in the same amount of time?
@saaking
So you plan to play 50-60 hours straight, no sleep, no bathroom breaks, no food, no work or school, no contact with other humans(actually, this one may be true), etc, etc? Must be since all of those would pull you out of the action more than a 30 second disc change. What a joke.
Killzone 2 is a great game but you have to admit that after the E3 trailer in 2005 you couldn't talk about anything without someone mentioning that Killzone 2 was going to be a game changer that would put the ps3 over the top and for almost three years until the game launched the be all end all of every argument on N4G was 'just wait until Killzone 2'. Heck, for the last three or four months before the game launched every comment section was littered with 'killzowned' everywhere and talk of ...
"Lol plus its MS if anyone who will be coming with the desperado price cuts!! "360... now just $29.99!!" LoLz!"
In FOUR years the 360 dropped from $400 to $300 and in THREE years the ps3 dropped from $600 to $300 and you are calling MS desperate? I wouldn't say either are desperate at all to be honest, I would say they are priced right where they should be and if anything, the 360 SHOULD be cheaper at this point but it isn't which seems to indicate the exac...
honestly, I will NEVER use netflix on ps3. Why? Because it has blu-ray. Why would I downgrade from blu-ray to netflix?
I'll wait for a lens of truth camparo... they seem to do it the fairest.
It really depends on the type of gamer you are... I am a very social gamer and for me live is definitely work the fifty bones. Organizing a session of a game with friends on live isn't much work at all and in an evening full of gaming I may switch between two or three games and it's easy to get friends to follow through or if they want they can be dropping in and out of sessions depending on what game I am playing and when. On the ps3 it's a LOT of work to the point where I am phoning peop...
Actually, after looking at the article again I realized they are talking sales for Q3 ONLY which ended on Sept. 30th so this is only 9 days of sales of ODST since it was released on Sept. 22nd. Add to that all the missing territories and this is almost a useless article.
@ army_of_darkness
I typed 'playtation 3' in the search box and it was the first hit.
