RunDLC can STFU. If they didn't like Dante's personality in the first place they don't even understand what the fuss is about. They could've retained his trademarks all the while making him look "edgier".
If they can somehow make the game more refreshing or fun than it already is, that would be awesome.
A reboot is not a bad thing by any means. But as far as THIS game is concerned, Capcom is trying to pull a fast one on true fans. How about we reboot the Sonic series with a gopher? Or Mario with an electrician?
