I think you are a bit on the money, but still far away. The term "casuals" and "hardcore" should be done away with. We are gamers. Nothing more, nothing less. This gen is far from ruined, but COD is causing other developers to think narrow minded. Not the developers fault really, but they could make a more innovative experience to be copied.

Definitely agree. Conker would be awesome to see revived. Same goes for Killer Instinct as well though.
Every generation has it's own genre that takes off. Platformers for the SNES era, action for the PS2/GC/Xbox era, and now shooters are starting to be the prominent market. If you honestly think that shooters are killing gaming through over-saturation, then you are looking at releases with blinders.
