Why does it matter so much? Why is it so annoying to you?

Seems like a weird thing to be angry about.

sorry, to be clear I was being facetious since King and Zenimax Online recently voted to unionise and then by pure coincidence I'm sure, they were the hardest hit by layoffs.

If MS could, they'd get rid of all of their staff and then re-hire them as contractors. Probably at more cost, but without all the employee benefits they'd get if they were permanent. They will hate their teams doing this and now imo they'll become a big target.

In completely unrelated news, Blizzards Story Team no longer exist after they were definitely not targeted for unionising during the next round of MS layoffs

Not quite - Tencent started working on it with the idea of pitching it to Sony. Ordinarily, Sony would have likely said yes, however they already have a Live Service game in development at Guerrila in addition to the Horizon MMO in development at NetEase. Seemingly, after getting the No, they've decided to just crack on with it anyway which is quite the bold move.

I imagine Tencent will need to make dramatic changes to the characters designs but outside of the art asse...

lol, desperate fanboy-mods turning to ChatGPT now for solace. That's too cute. You guys tried really hard to bury this news from N4G the other day.. failing it as "old news".

Honestly.. who knows what the future holds.. but my advice.. if you're clinging on to the idea of traditional consoles, first party exclusives and physical media then buckle up and ensure your mental health is in a good place as the next few years may be tough for you.

I think what will end up happening is that they'll release their own launcher/store on PC with trophy support to avoid the 30% Valve tax and games will release day 1 PS5/PC with Steam 6 months later.

Steam also removed a bunch of games this week for the same reasons

One of them is almost certainly the Black Flag remake. We've already heard leaks that they are planning to shadow drop it later in the year.

The other one is probably something like Just Dance for Switch 2.

Very true - Although saying that, there were rumours about 18 months ago about PlayStation acquiring Arc System Works and then not long after that they acquired EVO. A lot of that makes sense now.

It can also be used wired which is fairly important to note. Anybody using this thing competitively won't go anywhere near wireless.

Rumours (mainly from Jeff Grubb) said there wouldn't be a showcase, just a state of play in June and that is what we've got.

Shuhei Yoshida says a lot of things recently

It's out in June and nobody has had any hands-on with it yet. In the previews last week the developers played the game themselves online as already mentioned and despite it being their own game had to turn on God mode just to get through several sections. Not because they wanted the demonstration to go smoothly but because the game was just too broken for them to get through it.

It's pretty clear to me that they know this game sucks

SW Battlefront released in 2004.
SW Battlefront II released in 2005.

It might seem crazy now but in that era a lot of games were made in one year.

Still think Rod Fergusson would have been a good shout. He's got a track record of fixing stuff and I assume he's still at Blizzard.

Not heard of this guy but I feel like anyone is better than Matt Booty

I thought Dan Greenawalt was head of Turn10 though (although I noticed he didn't do the on stage stuff at e3 this year). Is he not there anymore?

Not quite - As has been said multiple times above, this is talking about Xbox publishing - ie. second party games like As Dusk Falls.

I believe the only one we know about is Contraband by Avalanche, a game by People can Fly and possibly an IO James Bond game.

Cool, it took me 99 hours to platinum Remake. Then 20 to finish Intergrade.

Hard mode was genuinely difficult - you couldn't just get a tactic and stick to it - each boss needed radically different setups

It's easy to say with hindsight of course. But with the resources MS have, surely they could have predicted this was a possible outcome of their strategy.

There's no way they'll consider dropping parity. That'll damage the Xbox brand beyond repair. Maybe they can do something clever with a mid-cycle release to get around it? Otherwise the Series S is going to be a mistake that they pay for throughout the rest of this generation.
