valve is valve not EA owned and they have voiced their dislike of the PS3 in the past very explicitly (see gabe) so steam was probably not an option then, now valve has eaten a bit of humble and STFU pie and it seems possible to have steam support on PS3 now.

that would have been impossible because as you would recall the hd-dvd vs bluray war had the main format for movies and media used by the big companies being bluray, so it would no be economically viable to mass produce hd-dvds just for games when noone was using it for movies. Or something like that.
people who say graphics don't matter are the ones with an inferior graphics console, if you have the options for a HD version or SD uglier version its obvious what everyone without a serious mental defect will choose. Its not basically the same when the look is so much better, graphics are a big part of a game.

You technically don't need the sub controller as you can use the dualshock 3 instead and although it would be awkward you will still get the analog stick and L1 and L2 buttons for use which is what you'll need mostly for any game. Just for argument sake.

i know it looks good but its still not gameplay so i'm gonna wait and see first, rendered scenes are very different from actual gameplay but the fact that it can render these graphics is very promising.
This is a really good looking game, I mean even in the low quality vids you can see how good it looks, the gameplay looks amazing also and best part is its multiplatform so that means PC for me :)
no mention of acceleration and brakes though so it seems like that is controlled by the game.

This article is stupid, first the firmware updates will not be done in the background, if he understood how sony updates worked he would know that you have to download and reinstall the entire OS which is about 150MB i believe, it sux that its that much each time but its how the xmb was set up. So that means that downloading and installing the firmware update while using the system is impossible with or without PS+
How it will work is to allow for scheduled times for your ps3...
