They are a great developer no doubt. But most of us would argue Naughty Dog, Rockstar, and Sony Santa Monica have been equal or better over a MUCH longer period of time. Multiple Nintendo teams, Guerrilla Games, Sucker Punch, Insomniac Games are all highly praised as well.
I completely agree. Days Gone is my GOTY so far. It was just so much better than I expected it to be. I couldn't stop playing until I got the platinum trophy. There are so many strange choices in almost every category. I'm only a few hours in on Death Stranding but seems pretty cool so far. A little slow but very cool and interesting.
I can't even express how genuinely disappointed I was when I recently tried BBS for the first time on PS4. Especially after so many people said it's one of the best in the franchise. Maybe I'm missing something but it was far below average in: gameplay, story, voice acting, level design, and graphics. It was like watching a movie where you notice every shot is on a poorly lit green screen.
Agreed!
I'm actually hoping they add even more to the Golden Saucer. More mini games. Would be amazing to have a few from other games in the series. Blitzball from 10 or the card game from 9.
I think it all comes down to personal taste. There are a lot of people (myself included) that would put Days Gone above most of those games. Easily above:
Sekiro, Dark Souls 3, Octopath Traveller, Divinity Original Sin 2, Doom, Inside, The Witness, Hellblade, Monster Hunter World, NieR: Automata, Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2, Subnautica, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Hollow Knight, Dead Cells and Guacamelee! 2
And personally I'd eve...
Exactly. FF15 was shockingly bad in almost every measurable way. Gameplay, controls, camera, characters, story, boss fights, big empty map with copy and pasted rest stops. Graphics were solid but nothing special.
As a SE fan I feel like the exact opposite. FF15 got solid reviews despite being below average in almost every way. This game does look great though. Truly hoping it's a fun sequel to KH1+2
I would completely disagree. FF13 was too linear BUT it was super polished, better story, better characters, fun battle system, and definitely a better world. FF15 was a huge empty map filled with copy and pasted truck stops. Just making something bigger or open world doesn't make it better.
I don't even watch this award show anymore its always cheesy and I very rarely agree with any of the winners.
Horizon Zero Dawn was by far my personal GOTY. A new IP with top notch characters, story, graphics, gameplay, music, exploration, world/lore, design, intense versatile combat. Can't ask for much more than that. In an industry full of sequels, remakes, annual mediocre releases, season passes, and microtransactions this game was original, fresh and satisfying...
This game starts with a car running out of gas in the desert. You then push the car to a gas station.
Funny because that is exactly how I felt forcing myself to push through the game hoping it would get better....spoiler alert it didn’t.
Last year was a toss up for me (between The Last Guardian & Uncharted 4) but this year Horizon Zero Dawn is definitively my GOTY! I haven't picked up The Frozen Wilds but have high hopes. Great story, likeable characters, fun gameplay, top notch graphics, and a surprisingly lively open world. One of the first huge maps in a while that felt exciting and lived in. I felt like there was something awesome around every corner.
I guess everyone has different taste but I have no idea how anyone could deny that PS4 is kicking butt.
Sony didn't have a ton of surprises but after this E3 this is how it stands. Although I guarantee I can't list them all.
Early this year
-Horizon Zero Dawn
-Gravity Rush 2
-Persona 5
-Nioh
-Nier Automata
-MLB the Show
-Kingdom Hearts 1.5-2.5 Collection
-Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Co...
We also got the Beyond 2 souls/Heavy rain collection, and should be getting kingdom hearts 2.8
Awesome! Yeah, each game has something different to offer. It's interesting that so many people have a different favorite game in the series. Glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed VII and X.
For me it's a tie between VII and X.
The graphics on PS4 Exclusives like Uncharted 4 & Until Dawn continue to amaze. Even the platformers like Ratchet & Clank look like Pixar movies.
I tried the first game, but couldn't get into it at all. Hopefully this will be better. I'm probably the odd man out though, may just not be my style of game.
I did my first review submission and it is not showing under all, creating, pending, accepted, or rejected. Is there a workaround for this or should I simply resubmit. I don't want to double post if it will work out on its own soon. Thanks
I say this as a huge Naughty Dog/Playstation fan since PS1. I did not enjoy this game. It had great graphics and music, but I felt that the characters, story and gameplay were all mediocre. Enough people have commented on their dislike for the story and characters so I'll just express my absolute agreement with them and leave it at that. But so many people give this game a pass on gameplay.
