As if the box itself isnt thick and ugly enough, technically the kinect camera is part of the box if it needs to be attached in order to run.. -_-
I too am unimpressed. As a 3D modeler and texture artist working on games for hopefully the PS4 and XboxOne, and strictly as a gamer, this announcement was underwhelming.
To start, the name is kinda bad. One? You mean the original xbox? Idunno... not a very firm name. Secondly, if the used games thing is true, I wont be able to play my friends games once they're done with it without paying a fee or some sort. Shady microsoft. Third, where are the damn games today? Most of...
Dont like what im seeing...
From the teaser video, it looks to have both matte and gloss black.
I'm liking the industrial, "mech" look to it. Haha
I'll spend no more than $399 for the console. And another $180 on games.
Idunno.. I hope that when they say inking to games", they dont mean more annoying in-game ads..
When you look at this gif ( http://www.thesangreal.net/...
the water in the upper right is actually fluid, dynamic, and even see-through! amazing little details
I'm studying at Gnomon School of visual effects in Hollywood, and I just noticed how there's just so many technical aspects of this game that just blew me away, that most people wont even realize.
Amazing presentation.
I'm expecting a lot from this game, but as of right now...
... sweet Samuel L. Jackson! I want it now
To be honest, I was expecting worse from this game.. lol
I predict Microsoft and Sony are going to merge and produce an ultimate console sometime this fall.
Look! I have the same technical ability as a games analyst now. :D
Well, lets keep it simple, how badly do you want backwards compatibility?
Adding BC to the PS4 would mean for Sony to include the PS3's cell chip into the PS4, effectively raising the price. So how bad do you want BC?
Bad enough that you wouldnt mind the price hike for the PS4? If you dont mind the potential $100+ on backwards compatibility, then I'm sure you wouldn't mind paying for the games again on the cloud.
Haha. He thinks the social features and Skype will help the next Xbox?
I guess the games, focusing on the developers and hardcore gamers aren't that important..
Nooo. Social features and Skype ftw... So he says
I agree. If Microsoft's main focus is Kinect and casual games to try an appeal more to non-gamers, they will be neglecting the hardcore gamers who would line up for days to get their next console.
In terms of power, I doubt it will be more powerful than the PS4, so they will have to really focus on GAMES. Good games. With good gameplay, good concepts, and overall good experiences. Sony presented DriveClub, which in its own way is unique, and looks gorgeous too. They also ...
I agree with this article. Honestly, with the new generation of consoles, other than the obvious graphics bump, I think that the innovations would be much more technical. Better environment/character models, AI, A LOT more particle effects, animation, lighting, etc.
These advances may be subtle, but they make a huge difference in the overall end product. Just look at the Deep Down trailer. It may not be in-game, but it was proven (article was on N4G) that it was done in real ...
To add to my comment, for those of you who dont really have the time to watch the whole video, around the 21min mark, the dragons head actually goes through the rocks.
Definitely not pre-rendered CGI.
:] Excited yet?
I've been telling this to people as much as I can, but if you actually watch the trailer in HD and pause in certain areas, you can see a somewhat "pixel flickering" effect in between the character model and the background environment. This type of imperfection doesn't really happen in flat CGI video.
I'm studying animation and visual effects at Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood btw, and I can tell that parts of the trailer were rendered in rea...
If you watched the Deep Down trailer, you can tell in some scenes that it's rendered in real time. You can see some pixel flickering between the character model and the environment etc. These "imperfections" are not present in CGI.
But yes, im looking forward to killzone, and what this next generation has to offer. Its too early to judge based on beta gameplay, but im excited.
Thats true. I remember Sony said "you will have to get 2 jobs to pay for the PS3. We want you to work hard to get the system". Needless to say, that was a stupid mentality.
I'm glad that they're really changing things with the PS4. They're definitely advertising better, focusing on the core gamers, working with developers, and overall working much harder to gain back their dominance.
Its going to be an exciting generation. Cant wait to ...
Xbox One: Jump out.
Haha
