Yep they have become so out of touch lately, got lucky with the Wii but the trick hasn't worked the second time. Sorry jholden, boomtube is correct. The casual market (as much as us gamers despise admitting it) is the biggest market and is crucial to console, game and accessory sales, and nowadays the kid market cannot sustain the adoption rate and profitability of console gaming. Did you miss the part of the conference with the third party developers, one of which was from EA talking about a Switch version of FIFA (which looking at the in game pitch advertising hoardings, it looks like a Switch version...

I wouldn't say the wii 'wasn't a success among gamers', some of the best games of the generation were on the wii such as the absolutely superb best ever Mario game/series imo Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 (the second is one of the best games I have ever played).
People wanted Nintendo to copy other console's online features so they chose to copy the subscription fee

I consider Killzone Mercenary to be not just simply the best handheld FPS ever created, but also one of the best games I've ever played considering something like that was running on a freaking handheld with great controls (even the swipe to melee was great, and the tap back touchpad to run was very effective) and also a superb online (all 6 maps it launched with were awesome, then to make it even better Blood Gracht and Tharsis Depot came on it).
