Not sure, i was introduced to the series with Continuum Shift Extend, couldn't understand the story but the gameplay was damn good.

I really hate how whenever a game has cel-shading, people compare it to Borderlands as if BL set some sort of a standard. Lets not forget Zelda's Wind Waker amazing cel shading and Killer 7.
