It's a shame though they Square seems to be coasting on their prior fame, since their games aren't necessarily bad; just over-priced.

And I agree with your second point; any unknown developered would be skinned alive by the gaming community for charging that kind of price for a mobile game.

There aren't enough words in the English language to do a proper rant about this subject

It looks like it's for the PS3. There's a small reference under the image in the linked text.

Even though it's €360, which is about $440 AUD, for all the numbered Final Fantasy games, that still works out to be around $30 a game, which is pretty worth it, especially with new Final Fantasy games coming out here for around $80 as an absolute minimum.

Thrown in the fact that it's a limited collection with a whole bunch of extras, and I'm pretty much sold if it ever gets released in Australia.

It could be a cheap option for iOS users looking for a bare bones Android capable device in the same vein that an iPod Touch can be used for Android users.

It seems like they exist only for purely for completionists and bragging rights essentially, which is a commmon argument against them, since it technically adds nothing of value to the game in the eyes of those that don't agree with their inclusion.

Doing something like what FFXIII did would give a lot more players a reason to strive for them, and could actually be a good selling point to sway the naysayers.

Knowing Kairosoft, they'd probably do this. They tend to take the most obscure genres and themes and turn them into gems of simulation games.

Wouldn't this be more of a competitor to the iPod Touch rather than the 3DS and Vita? As stated so many times above, the 3DS and Vita exist purely for handheld gaming.

They should instead be aiming to try and take a slice out of the market for iOS users that have iPod Touches, since some gaming options (e.g emulation) exist primarily on Android at this point, so giving people an option to access these games at a cost point would be a far better marketing strategy.

Couldn't be more true. If people have a problem with trophies, then just ignore it. It's such a simple solution...

Don't worry, I'm a massive fan of the N64 as well. Like you, I think that most of their games would still hold their own against today's games (at least in the gameplay department). This is where, for me anyway, nostalgia becomes a bit of a comparison point, since I was such of huge fan of games from that era, that I start thinking about how it was done in the past when playing a game in the present. It just makes you think about your old gaming memories and sometimes current game...

I think if a game is going to have a female lead, she needs to be interesting for more reasons that the two on her chest, otherwise it just comes off as pandering to a male audience for the sake of "sex sells".

The Fable system is crying out for someone to take to a new level. The framework for a really comprehensive morality and action/consequence system is there; it just needs a push in the right direction.

Progressive difficulty is a bit of an iffy subject, since having that extra challenge as you stated is something that would be counter-productive to the idea of it. Perhaps having scalable difficulty in the main areas of the game, whilst still keeping that fixed ridiculously ha...

I definitely agree about the length factor; It has to feel substantial without being a chore, which is a pretty fine balancing act.

Similarity is more to do with professional reviews rather than personal choice, although it does seem to sneak into some opinions on more than one occasion. There's never been more of a market for games than now, in terms of the sheer quantity of games being released, but at the same time, the number of unique games being released is diminish...

Thanks for the points about Skyrim. I did state in the article that I'm wasn't entirely sure about progressive difficulty (especially since I've never played Skyrim or Oblivion), so it is good to see that it's being implemented in some way or form.

I do have to disagree about Fable with the morality system though, since it's a bit flawed in its execution. The point I was trying to get across in the article was that morality needs to have a bit more weight ...
