the PS3 has outsold the 360 by over 209,000. I wouldn't call that "barely". Let's not forget that the price cut happened at the beginning of SEPTEMBER. It looks like the sales haven't quite fallen the way you were apparently hoping they would.
215,000 isn't bad at all for a new IP. It also was released in the middle of the month. I'm more shocked at the Borderlands sales numbers!
but we should all be happy to see new IP sell well. Congrats to the Brutal Legend guys and Tim Schaefer!
about your comment, but I am happy to see that RuPaul doesn't like the PlayStation 3. That makes me feel like I made the best decision when I picked it over the 360.
to play Disgaea yet, but I definitely agree that Monster Hunter needs to be on there. Also, I'm surprised they went with Vice City Stories over ChinaTown wars in the GTA department. I guess some people still don't care for the over head, old-school GTA feel.
I also really wanna get a crack at Persona. I need some of that Christmas cash flow!
The PS2 is still selling well and the PSP is doing great as well! I wish we could get a break down of the PSP numbers, though. I'm curious to see some straight up PSP Go numbers since its release on October 1st. I know I love mine. :)
I would say that the monthly sales are a better indication of what matters right now in the US, not an install base that includes a 1 year head-start. Clearly the PS3 matters right now in the US while the 360 is struggling to keep up.
Pretty good numbers overall. The Wii's price cut didn't have as crazy an effect as the PS3's did, but it still managed to outsell every other console. It's nice to see the PS3's numbers still much higher than they were as well. It should be a pretty close holiday season between the big three. Modern Warfare 2 may give the 360 a boost in next month's NPD with the bundles, special edition console and such.

I can't say that I am surprised, but to be fair, it is definitely the best game being released on the 360 this year. It's been a pretty sour year for exclusives, while the PS3 owners have been forking over money for several different titles.
I just wish they would release Tekken Dark Resurrection and Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops on the PlayStation Store for us GO owners.

Sony is really doing a phenomenal job of supporting the PSP and PS3 at the same time. 2010 should be just as good as 2009 was with Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, Valkyria Chronicles 2, and Resident Evil PSP. I can't wait!
I never realized actually. Perhaps I'll download one if they are around $20 on the Store. If not, I'll just wait for this one. I am really curious now!
Grand Turismo PSP has custom soundtracks, I would hope that it's bigger and better brother would as well. I thought they already confirmed it?

you listed 2 expansions and a racing game that is a marginal upgrade over the last iteration (yes I have played both and put well over a hundred hours into Forza 2)? The review scores OR the sales will tell you that Modern Warfare 2 is easily the best game coming out this year for the 360.
