Dude those ruins aren't just teaching words they tell awesome f**king stories just like how you can find traveler logs telling their journey in abandoned buildings. Anyway the language system is awesome and unique it's fun learning new words so you can understand the alien species.

If you don't pretend to care if people listen to you or not than why have I seen you in almost every no man's sky article bashing it especially if you haven't played it or have no desire to. If it lacks story how am I following the story of the vy'keen warrior race and it's leader hirk on his mission to wake the monolith while leading his people in war against the sentinels and protecting the travelers from them which I'm assuming is us. That's because this isn't a game that really streams well. I've been playing for at least 6 hours and im still on my beautiful starting planet. I've found so many pieces of lore,story and upgrades while discovering new areas and species that I've yet to feel like the game is dull and Iike I said I still haven't left my starting planet
Depends on what you like in games and what you're looking for. Personally I'm loving it and think it delivered on what it always set out to do but that's me you might not be into the exploring,mining,trading of the game. No dude reviews would make it true that's hundreds of people's opinions and not one called it an on rails shooter.
