Surprised to find this here already :)
I wouldn't be surprised if I can get a PS5 in my hands first being in China than in some other major markets actually.
You don't need to wonder. I can tell you: nothing.
I can guarantee you that buying consoles online (and even at physical stores) is extremely common in China, and there are no obstacles to it. Best case-scenario, you can literally order one in the morning and have it delivered to your door in the afternoon, if ordering from within the city you live in.
The article is from the perspective of consumers who either have or can afford all consoles
Actually no. The differences between playing a game on the original Xbox one and on the Xbox One X are huge and very noticeable, if you're using a good 4K HDR tv. I played Control on the original Xbox One and now with the Xbox One X I tried it again, and the difference is almost night and day. Frame rate, textures, special effects, HDR and all...its really a huge improvement, no question about it. Now, that may be more or less important for some people, or more or less noticeable dependin...
But one of the main reasons is precisely the 4K, as clearly stated in the article. The article comes from the perspective of someone who has been playing games from this generation on 4K tvs, but with the original models, and therefore the visual quality is not that great. Having the Xbox One X is the only option to play current-gen multiplatform games (on console!) at the peak of their potential. That's the point.
The economics part of it is also another issue. In this...
It's not the only reason, but for the "kind" of consumers highlighted in the piece (who have all consoles and the right tv setup), having an Xbox One X for multiplatform titles is a no brainer yes, and the obvious choice. Now, If I could only choose between a PS4 Pro or an Xbox One X (and not owning either the OG PS4 and Xbox One), I would probably stick with the PS4 Pro as well as the PS has more exclusives that matter to me.
It's Much more than a Sony event. In fact, Sony's presence there is quite residual, when compared to the overwhelming amount of Chinese publishers and devs present.
That's the point being made in the article also, yes.
