I mean, there will be folks who love Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and there will be folks who love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I think what Naughty Dog wanted to do, they did well for the audience that wanted it. Some gamers, like myself and apparently the writer of this article, are looking for games to make an argument, to make a judgment call about values or interactivity. Uncharted 3 does not do this. It does super sweet uhsplozhuns and planes. Both are great things, in their ow...
Yeah, Sony has a ton of disc-based exclusives coming this fall as well.
Also, Papo & Yo, which I LOVED when I played it at E3, is slated for 2012.
Sadly, not the most pressing news to come out of the UK today.
Agreed. Wallets speak louder than journalists.
Ah, but then there are the quick, almost comical sex scenes from Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood that function as character development rather than an end goal. I'd like to see more of that, if anything.
Honestly, at that point why not just make the game an RPG? I don't think story and player choices are exclusive elements, but certainly tough to tie together, especially when you make it MMO.
I agree, but I will say that there's a sizable contingent of gamers out there who don't really care about story elements or character, and they would much prefer to grind through nearly pointless side quests for as long as possible. I don't think WoW would be a control example of this, but certainly a viable one.
I agree to a certain extent, and I think that developers would do well to include as much choice as possible in their game romances.
However, if they are confining the characters to a directed narrative, I don't see why it should be any less acceptable to force homosexual romance on the player than heterosexual romance.
Maybe this is burning a sacred cow here, but what if Mario was after Prince Peach instead?
Wind Waker comes pretty close - but no cigar.
Vance family ftw!
Honey I Shrunk the Kids: The Game. I'm calling it now.
I feel like this kind of advice could apply to pretty much any video game to movie adaptation. Good stuff.
That is some incredible tech. Not that the Move demos haven't shown really similar gameplay, but it's cool to see it for PC.
I can definitely appreciate the idea that it's not a great horror game. I do think it's a pretty solid sci-fi shooter, though, which is why I liked it and scored it as such. I think there's some merit to detracting from the game's goodness because of the action orientation since it's self-described as survival horror, which I don't think it is. There were plenty of people who felt the same way (online forums and whatnot) and were upset as a result. I was more of the m...
Locke is mah jams.
GET OUT.
Jak and Daxter 2 is probably my favorite PS2 game of all time. It was GTA4 before GTA4 knew it was GTA4.
Pacing is one of those often ignored areas in games, whether by developers or reviewers. Glad to see it get some attention here.
Certainly modern military shooters value bravado and chaos over subtlety and fear, but from the perspective of EA, Activision, does it matter? I mean, scoreboard, right?
