No. I'm simply saying its not as easy as saying they should just make a new engine. It would severely hinder whatever game they currently have in development. This is also why the majority of developers have moved over to the Unreal engine instead of making they own like Valve or Bethesda. Square learned this lesson when they kept trying to make their own engine and it utterly halted they game development forcing them to move to Unreal as well. No not all game take this long to make. But massive open word games with a high pedigree often do.
I love how people talk about this as if they know anything about it. If it takes 4 to 5 years to build a game in an existing engine how long do you realistically think it would take to build a new engine along side a new game. But total and complete ignorance has never stopped people on the internet from knowing better than an entire massive gaming company with hundreds of near genius level employees. Is this supposed to be some kind of indicator in quality? I seem to remember when the Wii was killing both PS3 and the 360 is sales. Is anyone here gonna agree that that means the Wii was superior in every way? Don't think so.
