I mean I'm sure they've been scaling for Series S for a while. Also, R* usually gives out whatever they deem fitting then lets the upgrades pile on for years.
People let two games box the Series S into a corner... and one of those still find a way to work on the console. On top of that, Wukong isn't the Game of the Generation. Let's stop acting like many people are losing sleep over it.

Because the console space, even on PS5 is very casual. Notice no one bought Astro Bot really but those mainstream titles will do numbers. Money is money, nonetheless.
