The author of this is as dumb as a bag of rocks. How the hell is it confusing - if you purchased anything on credit where that item is the collateral then it is the same.

This isn’t news. Once again somebody nobody gives 2 craps about needs to justify them being broke and poor.

That’s nice. I don’t know who you are and don’t care. I would never by a Chevrolet.

I was a big 360 fanboy, but have since found added value in the PS3 - I have both systems now and am reaping the fruits of competition! I hope that they continue to push each other as the gaming is truly epic, as well as the price points!

This article refers to the past or history. We can't judge this generation as it is still going. It doesn't matter how much the Xbox360 and Playstation3 have lost - they still may make a profit, and the mistakes listed were more than just the dollars cost, but were expensive to gaming as a whole. One current mistake so far is the HDDVD drive on the Xbox360, but they didn't make that a standard, so probably didn't loose as much money as they could have on it and it really hasn't effected the ...

That much government control reeks of communism and takes out capitalism and a free market society. The reason games are $60 is because that is what the market can bear - and that is with people buying used games. If the rules were the way you want them to be then games would be well over a $100. That is what is great about a free market society is that we can buy used games, and we can determine what or what not the market will bear. There is a big difference between being "cheap" ...

I look at Microsoft doing this as the exact same as Video on Demand or Pay Per View movies on cable/satellite. What is the difference? The price is the same (My cable charges $5.99 for a movie on demand), and the download speeds are not bad. It justs gives us more options than the video store. As an adult consumer with discretionary income, I agree full heartedly with Microsoft - if I want it to keep it I will by the DVD or HDDVD. There are a lot of us from the generation before the internet ...

Nobody is winning this war. Both formats are loosing to DVD and it doesn't look to shift anytime soon. I am personally a fan of HD DVD, but if it doesn't hang on - oh well. I don't stand to make any money, benefit in anyway, or have anything to loose. The picture of both formats looks great, and if it ends up being a download of a movie, it will look great as well. I won't invest any more money or time into this stupid war - unlike fanboys some people have a regular life and don't pray to god...

the cost of a CD player was at most a couple hundred dollars. People have to go and get something besides the HD DVD or Blu Ray player - they need the TV (at least) with it, so now you are pushing up to at least around a $1000 - all for the purchase of one movie. The install base of High Defenition Television has to increase - this probably won't happen until a major television network goes HD only.

The problem with getting in a perfect likeness is that the game will actually start to degrade as we notice all the little things that are not perfect. A good example is racing games - if there are jaggies or a minor flaw in the car then it can hurt the authenticity of the game and be a glaring defect, whereas before when playing racing video games in the past there was more to enjoy than the authenticity, such as in Out Run and Pole Position.

According to the statistical curve these games not included in the analysis were more than likely statistically irrelevent. It would be stupid to include every single thing sold and impossible.

It couldn't matter which is better in the end. Sony has proven over and over again that it can have superior technology, such as in the Betamax, but have screwed up because of bad business.

The games are just one part of the puzzle. How well the business units are and what they do will declare who is a "winner". I personally own an Xbox 360 and could care less how powerful it is. It was available first, had a good price for the entertainment dollar, and has a good sel...
