I can understand arguing about games... but sales figures too? Unless you own sony or microsoft stock, why would you care what console other gamers buy? It doesn't even have the japanese sales charts, no doubt the 360 is absolutely getting spanked by the other two consoles over there.

I have been a Nintendo fanboy since the late 80's, and believe it or not guys, i don't patrol the internet bashing consoles that i don't own. I was just one of those gamers that never outgrew the Nintendo classics. My girlfriend owns an Xbox. Believe it or not, we have never had an arguement about video games.
I love how 90% of the people on here are guilty of the exact same crime as the fanboys that they bash, ...

Nintendo is the best... and always has been. Nintendo has given us the Shoulder Buttons, the Analog Stick, and Motion Sensing controls. If Nintendo wasn't the best, then Sony AND Microsift would not be copying them. Face it, you're either buying a Nintendo.... or you're buying a system that will eventually copy Nintendo.

Mario 64 was the first game to fully utilize an analog stick. Depending on how hard the player pressed the analog stick effected Mario's movement speed. Mario 64 also was the first game to introduce a 3D camera. I do not remember any of these inovations in the original tomb raider.
Personally i do not think that identity = influence. Mario is over 20 years old, how can possibly argue that isn't iconic?
i can understand that you're skeptical of pikachu. I am, however, happy to defend him as a top influential character. Pokemon has been the number one selling handheld title since the late 90's. In Japan, pokemon would be the equivalent to disney (theme parks etc.). Pokemon is also one of top selling rpg franchises of all time (it may very well be number one). And do i really have to name all of the spin-offs? (digimon, monster hunter etc.). There's also been like six pokemon movie...

Good games sell, and bad games don't... it's really that simple. If you want your games to sell on the wii, then you might want to make a good game from the ground up and not a ps2 port.
with the exception of tiger woods, all EA sports games on the wii totally suck.
