There are, as of 2009, 127.614 million people living in Japan. The Wii has sold roughly 8.667 million units in Japan. So, it looks like there are quite a few people who do not have it, n'est-ce pas? (Only 6.79% Japanese own one.)
I've been playing this as much as possible on my PS3 (I'm only a level 25 siren, if that indicates how little free time I have). This game is awesome. I'm really enjoying it. Get it regardless of your console.
Activision is trying to force the gaming industry to raise the prices. Well... screw Activision. Arrogant pricks. I'll just get Modern Warfare 2 when it's cheaper. :) (I'm in no rush to get it as I'm a full-time college student and hold a part time job)
I'm considering a day 1 purchase. At the latest, within the first month. It all depends on my college/work schedule and not whether I'm intrigued by the game.

If you had actually beaten Uncharted, you'd have seen in the credits that both Geurilla Games and Insomniac helped Naughty Dog with their technology. (If my memory serves me correctly, that is.)
That's the beauty of first and second party developers; they can exchange technology for the greater good.

Yeah, I'm aware it's a rather large difference. However, with the state of the economy, I figured it would be wise to be safe and take account for anomalies. That's my realistic expectation. My hope is for it to approach or exceed one million units each month.
I would estimate anywhere from 600k - 1.2 million units will be sold each month for the next couple of months (the higher end taking place during holiday rush, naturally). And no one can really anticipate how much sales will boost in Japan this December when FFXIII launches. Basically from October until April, I think we'll see the PS3 to continue to sell extremely well.

Ben Dutka, if you had read any of his other works, is actually quite fond of his 360 as are the other journalists on that sites. For being a Playstation site, they are actually quite fair and unbiased. That said, of course they need to promote their product of choice. Mind you, it was a choice with lots of thought put into it.
I know this because I've had a great respect for PSXextreme for years. I used to be a regular visitor of the forum. College does tend to get in the way.

They're wrong. This game is excellent.
500 consoles is a comically low number to make statements and estimates like this. They need way more (and more time) to fully give failure rates. However, I do hope the failure rate has gone down.
