Not true last gen and the beginning of this gen, Sony was bad at it. the sale prices were lame and they didn't happen this frequently. I used to complain about how long it was taking them to realize people will buy more if the had more sales. It is much better now.

You should've stuck with it, this game is much more than that. there were moments where I thought I hated the game but the journey was so worth it in the end.
