For the first few hours, yes, but once you progress further, you'll come across more enemy types and your hunger is much easier to manage due to stat increases and farms on your base.
Correction: the sites that didn't actually play the game properly and simply jumped on the hate bandwagon are a joke.

Almost every enemy does charge at you. They can be taken out simply by shooting but you'll probably suffer frequent damage if you don't constantly perfect the counter move.
It's not just that, it's also that it locks you out of Fusion mode unless you have the Metroid amiibo.
That amiibo implementation is a big downside but no one else seems to be talking about it...
