They sell at a $21 loss on the $350 model (almost the same as the GC loss at launch).
Imagine your $200 price fantasy now.
Nintendo isn't a big enough company to sell at a +$100 loss like Sony and Microsoft did with the 360/PS3. They have other departments to cover losses. Also, even though Nintendo has no debt and a LOT of money on reserve, they wouldn't want to burn through it.
The first pricecut, whenever it happens, should phase...
I had the same problem with Prime 1 and 2.
Even Metroid is my fav series getting the artifacts/keys was such a mood killer.
Prime 3 wasn't so bad cause you didn't have to collect all the energy thingies unless you wanted 100%.
WW's wasn't as bad but maybe still felt tacked on.
We just won't know to what extent that will happen until we see the game line-up and price of the new systems.
So Q3 covered the losses of Q1 and Q2.
Q1 = -189.5 million
Q2 = -118.4 million
Q3 = 468 million
So sitting at a around 160 million profit so far for this financial year. I expect profits in Q4 but only a fraction of Q3 profits. I could be wrong though if the 3DS explodes in Feb/March with the influx of games coming (too long to list). Guess we'll find out mide/late April when we get the Q4 results.
@Gamer1982
It was 5.5 million (opps BIGTAMR posted before me)
They lowered it to 4 million.
Agreed but console fanboy wars are here to stay unfortunately.
The best thing to do is not to feed the trolls and let them get to you. The worst one can do is to take that rage and redirect it on MS/Sony fans by trolling their articles. We have enough fanboys on either side that only post in their "enemy's" articles that praise the doom/negative articles for a system and denouce any good news.
Either way it's Console Wars V coming up, prepa...
At launch? No.
In a previous Direct they said that GC VC games would eventually come to the Wii U's VC but not to expect it at launch.
Welp better than nothing.
Remaking a game with updated graphics and controls is gonna take a hell lot less time than building a new game from the ground up.
We don't know that yet.
But yeah hopefully if its just a graphics uplift with Gamepad support its not $60.
How can people disagree that YOUR DREAMS came true?
O wait this is N4G. Where people will disagree that the sky is blue.
Gamepad support right outta the gate? Me likey!
Having to pay $1-1.50 to upgrade my already owned Wii VC games to be played on the Gamepad? Disappointing but at least its dirt cheap. I can upgrade my entire VC collection for under $20.
Now bring on the GC games on VC!
Well Nintendo did just announce another Nintendo Direct...

For NDP its easy cause it is one country.
Japan has Media Create and they are just as good as NDP, only they do weekly sales.
Why do you think Europe's numbers are so much harder to track? Minus the UK, you don't see many dedicated trackers in Europe. You might get some sales data from Germany, France, Spain, and Italy every once and a while but its still doesn't cover the rest of Europe accurately
@Perjoss
Good point. Everytime they get a temp ban it gets longer and longer.
Anyone else think if someone gets enough disagrees or bubble down votes they should just be banned?
0 bubble treatment!
The best things are worth waiting for.
I agree...
AND I LOVE IT
Fire Emblem being my fav tho
No Feb 21 is when they are releasing the demo.
March 19 is the launch.
Even as a die hard Fire Emblem fan I hate to say that the franchise has a niche market. No Fire Emblem has yet to break 1 million sales, mostly because only in the last decade did they appear outside Japan which is why only the GBA Fire Emblems broke 800k.
Although Nintendo is heavily advertising it + Amazing 3DS bundle + The draw of playing old heroes from the DLC will more than likely break a million if not more. It's currently 490k with only Japan.
