The original Xbox wassn't built around xbox live. It obviously had an ethernet port that was made with Live in mind, but it wasn't made around the benefits that an online console can bring. Even in recreation I have met countless people whose sole goal is to be annoying. I have just gotten quick with the mute, submit player, and file complaint features.
