I'll admit that I am frustrated with the scores received for Lair, as I was looking forward to the title. I still am, but with more reservation... it is now a try-before-buy than a day one purchase. That said, the only "review" that matters will be my own after playing.

I am not AS disappointed by the length of the game, as I don't often have a lot of time to invest in extended gaming sessions. I don't know if there is a rank between "hardcore" and "...

but talk about a prime example of a lower install base getting shafted.

I'm in advertising and have been using a Mac almost since their inception, so the idea of gaming improving on Apple's platforms is welcome news. In fact, I believe GoW is actually being released for Macs. As a current ps3 owner, that's great as I can look to (what I think) must be a fantastic game.

Plus, if games such as Madden or GoW can also run on my 17" Powerbook (though I doubt ...

the success of the Wii allows 3rd party developers/publishers to create massive libraries of minimum effort but "fun" casual games (only for the Wii) that earn them boatloads of profit.

These companies then invest some of that "Wii-easy money" ino a few high budget, high profile hardcore games... the kind that earn critical acclaim while allowing designers and artists to stretch their abilities. These are the games that push envelopes and showcase the futur...

Anyway... so, by this article is he saying the "typical gamer" IS fat and nerdy?

EA who?

I agree that the Wii has a limited shelf life and likely won't last the usual lifecycle... BUT one thing the article doesn't take into consideration is future price drops for the Wii. Just as the ps3 and 360 will continue to drop in price over the years, so, too, will the Wii.

And so long as Nintendo delivers on its core franchises, people will continue to soak it up.

Not a bad idea... get millions to purchase a comparatively low-priced system with a gimmick &qu...

A title like this can help show that gaming isn't just kid's play. It is a serious business (a fact that seems to still escape many). It is pure cinematic interactive entertainment bliss driving a billion dollar industry.

I hope titles like Bioshock inspire all developers and publishers to aim for equal results.

And anything to keep EA from publishing another Army Men game.

With the exception of a sports title here and there, I've been mostly a solitary gamer... and certainly nothing of this scope. So this will usher in a new dynamic for me that I'm really excited to play. I expect to get killed more often than not... but still love every minute of it.

that all multifplatform games are (not) created equally. Well, not always. But sometimes.

I'm amazed by the evolution of software quality within a platform's lifecycle. Look at freshman year titles for any system and compare them to the latest ones on the same system. Most developers say they are pushing machines to their limits... but then someone redefines the limits. In its infancy, nobody would have imagined titles like God of War (I or II) would be possiblle on the PS...

Certainly the audio plays an important role in crafting an immersive experience. I found it interesting that the article was more about the artistry and narrative-enhancing abilities of audio than the technology itself... and nowhere did THEY suggest it could "only" be done on one platform or another.

But I guess what fun is an article if it can't somehow be turned into N4G-napalm.

that "real" dragons don't spit fireballs. Good for them, that. Seems like an open-minded reviewer who welcomed trying a new control dynamic. And it seemed like a fair, objective review offering neither untarnished praise nor unexpained criticisms.

Obviously I haven't played Lair, but feel the 8.5 to 9 range would seem just about right. IMO, there are very few game well-deseving of an "honest" and solid 10.

Behold, the power of selective editing. Simply removing the words "one of" changes the objectivity of the viewpoint dramatically. I also like the apparent fact that neither consoles nor games will continue to evolve, and that this title (or ANY for that matter) will reign supreme for all time as most immersive.

This doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to KZ2. I am. I'll no dobt preorder a copy once they begin, as it may certainly raise the FPS bar and I'll not wa...

Both Sony and, more recently, Microsoft have had to do their fair share of "damage control." Sony needed to put a muffler on the mouth of Ken much sooner than they did. And Microsoft learned nothing can be swept under a rug for too long.

Had it not been for the internet, both Sony and MS could have gotten away with their shenanigans much longer. Thankfully, they cannot.

MS is entrenched in some hard PR skirmishes at the moment, but it's nothing they...

(1) own a PS3... buy it and enjoy a good football game; or

(2) own a 360... buy it and enjoy a good foodball game; or

(3) own both systems, pick up the 360 version and enjoy a good football game.

I remember when 30fps was the gold standard. And isn't 120 already finding its way into some computer games? Sure, 60 is "better" than 30, but is it REALLY going to make THAT big a difference for owners of one system or another?

I'm truly looking forward to this title, as the original is an old favorite from my ps1 days.

But since I use WiFi for connectivity, will there be a greater possibility of noticable lag compared to a wired connection? I assume so, but thought I'd showcase my lack of knowledge on this detail (but I did know about my ps3's Blu-ray player...lol).

Cheers.
