Definitely not, this game is fantastic. I liked how the areas weren't always completely obvious where to go. If you're going round a 3000 year old temple which has fallen apart, there isn't going to be a nice path with flowers and butterflies for you to skip down.
It's not the size that bothers me really. The D pad is crap as you said, but the face buttons are horrible to mash. I suck balls at QTEs on the Xbox because the buttons feel so weird to push in compared to the ps3. I guess it's just what Im used to D:

It's not like they've slowed down development on, say, Uncharted 2 to work on those sparkly backgrounds for the PS3. They have a PSN team for that. Also, doesn't Sony have the most first party game development studios?
I don't see how focusing on both is equal to not caring about games. D: PS3 has a great lineup from first and third parties, same with the Xbox 360.

Yeah, I didn't quite get how his friend having cancer had any relevance to him thinking Uncharted 2 wasn't that good.
