This is the reason to never buy anything at launch. A planned lifecycle? People skeptical of the price originally who bought it just got kicked in the throat. You going to give the people who just forked out $500 for it $100 back sony? What about Vita? You going to drop the price to $150 in May like Nintendo did the 3DS? I had this preordered but bought a tv instead, and i'd be pissed had I paid $500 for this.
This game is horrible anyways. Glad I rented, thought the Rock was included in the game, very very disappointed.
Nobody ever talks about this but batteries. The xbox controller, unless you have rechargable batteries, you got to deal with that a bunch and batteries are expensive. PS3 you can just plug up the controller.

i bought a launch ps1 knowing nothing about memory cards. Atleast I knew heading into ps2. This is a way for them to not take such a big hit.

I guess IGN needed to garner some hits. Complaining about skyrim, it's a port. Maybe if these third party vendors would start programming for ps3 and porting over to the xbox, it'd run better, but the xbox couldn't handle that. And yeah, Uncharted 3 got a 10 from IGN, you just rated them the game of the year. That's all.
I'm sorry but if there's one thing Sony sucks in is updating their own operating system. two years ago we were hearing "oh xmb will have a new look, cross game chat, yada yada" and it's all security updates. Now they actually go to a 4.0 and there's nothing of importance. Wow a health sign? must be sony got sued recently for that. What a joke.
