Lol you do realize that 1up only scores in .5 increments. so this could very well been a 9.74 that they rounded down :P and Mario 64 was the first good 3d platformer, thats why it scored so high. SMG has a lot to live up to. 9.5 is an amazing score. and so far has 96% at Gamerankings.
its a shame you feel a generation is about graphical upgrades.

its one fricken DAY! and Japan has a problem with 3d platformers. For some reason they cant deal with motion sickness. Mario 64 wasnt huge in Japan either. look it up

130k in a day :| thats 6x the Weekly sale of Halo 3 in Japan :| somehow this is bad? seriously guys. think it through. As for Opoona Koei failed to hype the game or even advertise it. Yeah it got 7's and 8's for reviews but the character design is hideous. It probably turned a lot of people off.
Well opoona got pretty average reviews actually.. and a lot are turned off by its strange character design. Koei really didnt think it through.
Wii added 8717 more to its lead. PS3 did absolutely no gaining. Spin ps3 fanboys spin it!! its fun. :)
Guys. The Wii's lead grows even if it sells one more console than PS3. PS3 cannot gain on Wii untill it actually outsells it on a weekly basis. Wii sales went up more this week than PS3 sales did in Japan
From a consumer standpoint they can buy a good upconverter dvd player for 99 dollars or a hd player that upconverts for the same price.. hmm i wonder what people will pick.. lol
