Unfortunately it's hard for them to speak out. Yes, harassment in the gaming industry is an issue but I think we've evolved from that point where it's a serious issue which needs addressing. It's not a point where people are receiving death threats, blowing things completely out of proportion.

To be completely honest I don't even think we can call it "hype" any more. Gaming hype is mainly driven by online media (I feel) and all Half-Life 3 hype has been driven by online jokes and such. For example.
Sillicur = 3 vowels
i = 9th letter divisible by 3
u = 21st letter divisible by 3

There is a small amount of hype, but when the game does officially get announced I think the internet will break....
