you are right. Crytel develope fc1 and ubisoft published it while fc2 was developed and published by ubisoft. sadly ubisoft owns the ip.
it is worth noting that FC1 was a pc exclusive while FC2 was multiplatform , maybe that;s explain something too. Like Mafia I and Mafia II. I don't know why muliplatform usually suck while exclusive tend to be better and better.
