This is where indie game development has a strong foothold. It doesn't take massive amounts of money to make an old school game with old school graphics that is still fun to play. At the end of the day gaming should be about making a good experience for the gamer, not trying to take every dollar possible from the consumer.

Large capacity media has more of an effect on the Music and Movie industries than video gaming. DD has it's place and advantages as does streaming HD video. If you watch Memento closely you'll notice that by the end of the film that Leonard's long term memories aren't what they used to be. That's why he is on the phone with t...

Nobody ever rebooted Mario to appeal to any different demographics. They just slapped the same guy in a number of different types of games. Don't change the look, just introduce a new type of game to be played IMHO.

Everything about this argument can be summed up with the advice to rent your game and see if you like it first. If you do then go purchase it right away or save until you can afford it or get it more within your budget.

For example, Films are released in the theater first and you can see it for around the same price as a rental. If you like it you can always go buy it when it's released on video. If it stunk at least you can say you'll never see that 7+ dollars again.
