Halo 4 was when they started turning it into a “modern” game. Aka taking tips from CoD.
The older titles were sandbox based with weapons that all filled a niche and vehicles that did the same. Open levels with multiple ways to approach in different spots with different weapons etc.
Halo 4/5 doesn’t have that. It’s a linear shooter and nothing else. The story is alright but that’s about it. If it wasn’t a halo game, it would be ok but because it is a halo ...
It really doesn’t have the best gameplay. Half the weapons are redundant, it’s missing ultimate sandbox elements, every level is very narrow and missing the openness of the previous titles, the AI is actually dumber than previous games, enemies are more spongey than usual, the only objective is “press button”, etc. it’s not even close to the best one.
As if reviews scores are any indication of a franchises health.

Of course they’re already behind. Consoles almost always are released outdated tech wise. They were never going to be getting “next gen” visuals at 4k 60. Most “next gen” games are all cross gen titles with enhanced visuals on the modern consoles.
I’m still waiting for next gen exclusive titles. There’s only been a few. Otherwise you’ll be fine with a ps4 or x1.
We’ve still yet to see what these damn consoles can actually do but so far it’s mostly last ...
And that flight sim even brings top PCs to their knees because it’s advanced technology running it that is extremely CPU heavy. Entire planet using satellite data and real time weather updates? There’s nothing else like it. It’s a fantastic sim.
