Actually, if it was just about clicks, we would promote that sort of news.
***But video game Journalists are in the video game industry to talk about anything game related ***
No, they're not. They report on video game news. They are not "in the industry" of making video games.
You're essentially saying that reporters are also politicians with that logic.
***Face it, it's video game related, most of this is***
Nope. As I explained in the blog, the mass majority is just social...
***If that particular news gives a negative perspective of what a Gamer is to the outside world, I think that would be News4Gamers.***
I agree, initially, it is. But, at some point, which you did not answer at all, it stops becoming that and just becomes a flurry of opinion pieces aimed at hits and social controversy.
***Is it okay for Gamers to be accused of being all the vile crap they say we are? ***
Yes, it actually is. Whether it's...
***Now would knowing (Hypothetically) that Pewdiepie is a sex offender be important news to inform everyone about?***
Would this news be about video games at all? Would this news affect the video game industry? Would a game or publisher or developer be affected by this news at all?
Now, questions for you: Say we allow it, similar to how we allowed news of Greg and the gang leaving IGN, the premise being that it's news that our users would like to hear. ...
***Ain't it funny how unsuccessful Gamergate has been in forcing prominent sites like Polygon, The Escapist and Kotaku to change their code of ethics?***
That would be like having FOX News change theirs. If it hasn't happened by now...
***By all accounts, should sites that break journalistic ethics be even allowed on this site***
By our policies, they should be. We have policies against offensive material, plagiarism, and the like. ...
***Journalistic impropriety articles are being failed***
And that would be fine on a site that discusses journalists as it relates to this topic. N4G is not about discussing journalism, but about video games.
I can understand you think they are one and the same, but we have decided they are not. Why? Because it greatly detracts from the direction of providing video game news and strays into what we have had, which is social media news.
No, those are tied directly to the video game industry and are about policies implemented by a console manufacturer.
Gaming journalists and what they do are not video game news unless it's directly about a video game. Journalists report on the industry, they are not the industry. So, the only time what they say is of news on N4G is when it is specific to video games. What they do in their personal lives, who they sleep with, and the like, is not video game news.
***Its about game reporter***
Exactly. It's about a journalist. Journalists are not the video game industry, they are what reports on it.
***If you can't discuss the state of the gaming industry at a gaming news site, then where can you? ***
I think you're oversimplifying the change. You can discuss the gaming industry here. But, gaming journalism != gaming industry.
***How is that not important? ***
It's not about being important or not. It's about being about video games.
***A group of ideologically driven individuals are co-opting gaming...
I didn't get that. In fact, Far Cry 4 on Sony's stage showed more about co-op than anyone else. They also have the co-op Killzone content. And then Ubisoft had Rainbow Six on their stage.
I think MS, as usual, hit it with the usual multi-player content (CoD, Halo). I don't think they really focused on co-op.
I see no issue with that one. If you see one that is just attempting to get through with sneaky tactics, report it and let us know. A moderator will review it and, if needed, discuss it with others to come to a determination on such a submission.
