Hot cakes are not really popular in Japan.
I think Sony will manage their game releases and promotion more seriously.
That is why this gen they will go for quality over quantity and give each games a better chance to shine.
But bear in mind that in 2014 more people spend time online than watching cable or satellite tv and Sony has done tremendous effort over the past 2 Years or so to focus on online and press advertising rather than spending millions for couple of seconds on regular tv.

EX: MICROSOFT AS MORE STOCK AVAILABLE IN N.A. And UK yet it has been outsold in this two territories alone.
If Sony would have focus on 13 territories like ms, I believe they would have still been sold out every where and they would have reach the same sales figures by now if not more.
Look at the last couple of weeks ps4 worldwide sales

If it was such a big deal, most people would Have bought a x1 instead of ps4. After all the game has been announced for quiet some time now and still more people are rushing towards ps4

Most people here in europe, do not care for an extra weapon or skin...
That is why I believe that here the UK, the 360 version will outsell the XONE version by a huge margin.
The PC version will probably outsell the XONE version in France, Germany and Spain because most people dislike the Xbox brand over there(the RROD issues left a bad memory behind)
